Redhead Approved: Fresh Rose Face Mask

Fresh - Rose Face Mask

Price: $62 for 3.3 fl. oz.
Purpose: Hydrate and tone skin
Active Ingredients: Rosewater (50%), cucumber extract, aloe vera and green tea

What's To Love

  • Sensitive skin-friendly formula. Can we take a look at the ingredients in this bad boy? The combination of rosewater, cucumber extract, aloe vera, green tea, and porphyrydium cruentum (aka a vitamin-rich algae) is the ultimate recipe for flawless skin.
  • It lasts FOREVER. The $62 price point may seem a bit steep at first but don't fret, I've had mine for approx. 6 months and have only used about a third. You know what they say... a little goes a long way!
  • Get the glow - without the dryness. Astringent based toners tend to severely dry sensitive skin by removing essential oils along with dirt and build-up. Roses, however, yield an essential oil packed full of nutrients which naturally soothe and tone the skin.

What To Consider

  • If you are sensitive to strong smells, be aware that this is a very fragrant product. Rosewater in general has a pungent, floral smell that may be displeasing to some. Personally, I love the smell of rosewater so I find this pleasant and not overwhelming. I'd recommend stopping by Sephora and taking a whiff prior to purchasing if you are on the fence.

When it comes down to it, this mask is the holy grail of all face masks. Packed with powerful ingredients like rosewater, cucumber extract, aloe vera and green tea, this mask tightens and stimulates the skin while still being gentle enough for a redhead's sensitive skin. I find this mask dramatically helps reduce any redness and inflammation (ahem, pimples) when used on a regular basis. I usually use this 1-2 times a week to brighten my skin.

Redhead Approved: Smashbox Infrared Matte Red Lipstick

Red lipstick can be a very intimidating thing, especially for redheads. I remember when I first started getting more adventurous with my makeup, I thought I couldn't wear red lipstick because I had red hair. Well, the joke was on me! It may take a little more effort to find a color that works well with your skin tone AND color of your hair but it is well worth it. Once you find "the" red, you'll never turn back!

I have quite a few reds (okay... okay, I'm a red lipstick hoarder) that I keep on hand for different occasions. One of my all time favorites for when I'm going out or just want something really bold is Smashbox 'Be Legendary' Lipstick in Infrared Matte ($20).

What's To Love

  • It has blue undertones which makes it wearable for cooler toned gals (hooray!), but it looks great on warm skin tones as well.
  • The matte formula isn't dry and cakey like many others. The application is silky smooth and stays that way all night! I usually touch up once, just to be on the safe side.
  • Thanks to Vitamins C & E, your lips won't dry out! If I'm looking for a slightly more sheer effect, sometimes I'll swipe some lip balm on my lips before applying.
  • No lip liner needed. Maybe this should have been the first, and most important reason as to why this red is so great! Even though this is a lipstick, it's almost like a lip stain in the sense that when you put it on, it's not going anywhere. Just be careful in your application and you will have long-lasting, smear-free smackers for days (okay... hours)!
  •  Super sleek packaging! The all black, rectangular packaging is super chic - and the fact that it isn't a plastic tube makes me love it even more.

What To Consider

  • If you are new to red lip stick, this may not be the shade for you. Opt for something semi-sheer or a pigmented gloss until you feel comfortable wearing a bold shade. Baby steps, you'll get there!
